Tutorials: Multiplying 2-Digit Whole Numbers

Multiplying 2-Digit Whole Numbers

To multiply by a 2-digit factor, 24, start with the 1s place. 4 times 8 is 32. Place the 2 in the ones place and carry the 3. 4 times 2 equals 8 then add the 3 equals 11. Make sure to cross off the 3 to not get confused. Now I move to the 10s place. I put a zero in the ones place to remind myself I'm working with 10s. 2 times 8 equals 16, I write the 6 in the tens place and carry the 1. 2 times 2 equals 4 plus 1 equals 5. I add the two 3-digit numbers together and get 672 as my product or answer.
